The Committee Opposing the recall of Elise Scafani is a group of citizens concerned about the financial solvency and good governance of the City of Blue Lake. Our goal is to reestablish a council/manager general law form of government in which the Council represents the citizens of Blue Lake and the City Manager carries out the policies designated by the City Council.
We feel Elise Scafani has been instrumental in the development of the transparency and accountability that is needed to
accomplish these goals.

Long before Elise Scafani was elected to City Council, she was already showing up for this community—attending meetings, trying to communicate ideas, and working to implement positive change. Too often, she was dismissed or ignored by the very people who should have welcomed her input. Instead of walking away, she got braver: she ran for a seat alongside the same individuals who had undermined her intellect—and she won.
Once elected, Elise immediately worked to bridge communication with the Blue Lake Rancheria. She was the only member of the prior council to take that step, opening the door to collaboration that benefits us all.
Elise immerses herself in information until she fully understands the situation, the desired outcome, and the most responsible path forward. No rubber stamping from Elise—only well-researched, well-thought-out, educated, and thoughtful solutions. She asks hard questions, reads everything, and makes decisions grounded in facts, community input, and the law.
She’s also been a strong advocate for maintaining and renewing our Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office contract, keeping public safety a top priority for residents.
I ran for council myself because I wanted to collaborate with and support Elise. She—and she alone—gave the community hope that change was possible. That’s why we had more candidates last year than any year I can remember. People wanted to work with Elise, to support Elise, and to be part of the change she represents. Our current council now stands behind her, and that’s exactly why she’s being targeted.
Beyond the dais, Elise is deeply compassionate—she’s given her free time to caring for animals and serves the community working as a nurse. I know firsthand the friend she is: someone willing to go out on a limb for the people she cares about, and lucky for us, she cares deeply about this town.
This recall is not in Blue Lake’s best interest. It’s a personal vendetta by a small group who didn’t get their way. Elise represents the change the majority of our town wants and voted for—and she deserves to retain her seat at the table without the added stress and bullying.
We need leaders who stand for the people, not just politics. Elise has proven she is that leader.
